Biography

Kathryn Hagy headshotKathryn Hagy received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in painting/printmaking from the University of Washington in Seattle, and a Master of Fine Arts in painting/printmaking from the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) in Providence, Rhode Island. While at RISD, she received the Award of Excellence in Printmaking.  She was selected as a 2010 Fulbright Senior Scholar to Nepal, where she will teach and create a new body of work. In 2000, she was awarded a Fellowship to the MacDowell Colony in New Hampshire and a grant from the Manhattan Graphics Center.  In 2001 she was awarded a residency to the Frans Masereel Centrum in Belgium, and exhibited a public installation at PS122 Gallery in New York City. She has shown her work both nationally and internationally in such venues as the Royal Museum of Fine Arts in Antwerp Belgium, the International Print Center New York, the David Winton Bell Gallery at Brown University and the Krause Gallery in Rhode Island, Artlab in Memphis, CSPS in Northeast Iowa and the Bellevue Art Museum in Washington state.  Previously, she was a Visiting Professor at Ewha Women’s University in Seoul Korea, Adjunct Professor Pont Aven School of Art in France, and an Instructor with the Rhode Island School of Design’s Pre-College Program. Currently, she is an Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Communication, Literature and Arts at Mount Mercy University in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
